Beyond Loving Bondage

From the ashes of forlorn love
Arises a freedom unknown before
Playing music unheard to other ears.

When the chains of bonded love break
Leaving the soul wounded, yet free
It limps slowly to the newfound freedom
Like a hesitant bird from its cage of years
Then finds its wings to fly higher and higher.

It lives between the sadness of lost years
And the ecstasy of liberty,
Lost and aimless, yet free
Finding peace in solace

Simply Words

If I did not tremble,
When you spoke the magic words,
And treat them as words, simply words.

If I could hold back my tears,
When you spoke the angry words,
And treat them as words, simply words.

If I could hold my heart,
When you said goodbye,
And treat them as words, simply words.

If I did not rely on words
To say what lay in your heart,
Yet hear the words you never spoke.
If I did not spend the years
Dying to hear what you never said,
I could have broken free,
Free of the words,
Words, said and unsaid,
Oh, simply words!

It Rained...

It rained today, does it not often?
But it was special, for it had the fragrance of home.
It was a misty morning, there were faint clouds
And a little light was gone.
Then began the drizzle, slow and murmuring
With signs of heavy rain.
Heavy droplets fell, the murmur was louder
I was delighted.
I walked slowly, letting the droplets cover my face
For the rain I wished to feel.
The smell became familiar, it was biting cold
But I walked slow.
Yes, it rained today, like it rained at home
I loved it, for it felt like home!

Without Words

In a web of thoughts
Was a thought,Searching for words.
I held my pen for long
Waiting for it to find words.
A hungry page stared at me,
I could not feed it with words.
Maybe tomorrow it will find words
But should all thoughts find words?

Khushi

When I first saw her, I loved her
Her cheeks were red and complexion fair
She was little then, learning to walk
She fell often, I ran to her rescue
She called me 'didi', I loved her more.

She misses me when I am away
She kisses me when I am back
She learns to speak, my delight at each word.
I teach her to dance, she copies
I dress her, she looks in the mirror.
I look forward to go home
Today we will play 'budhu'
She will greet me with delight
Khushi, my little sister-the joy of life!
